Brooklyn Youth Chorus will host the inaugural Bed-Stuy Choral Festival on Saturday, April 18, marking a new community-centered celebration of youth music in Brooklyn.
The event brings together young voices, local school programs and church choirs for a day dedicated to collaboration, training and performance.
Designed as both a learning experience and a public showcase, the festival offers singers in grades 4 through 8 an opportunity to develop their vocal skills under the guidance of Brooklyn Youth Chorus conductors.
Participants from across the borough, whether experienced performers or newcomers with a passion for singing, will take part in workshops focused on technique, ensemble work and artistic expression. The day will culminate in a large-scale choral finale, uniting all participants in a mass choir performance.
The festival is free and open to individuals as well as school, church and community groups, emphasizing accessibility and broad participation. Organizers aim to foster both musical growth and community connection, creating space for young singers to build confidence while engaging with peers from different neighborhoods.
In addition to the daytime workshops, the festival will conclude with a public concert in the evening. Audience members can expect performances from local choirs alongside the featured mass choir of student participants.
The Bed-Stuy Choral Festival will take place at Concord Baptist Church, located at 833 Marcy Ave., with the evening concert beginning at 5:30pm. Admission is free, though advance registration is required for attendance. Click here for more information.
