The Brooklyn Academy of Music has released its Fall 2025 lineup, offering a multifaceted mix of performances, exhibitions, and events spanning dance, theater, music, film, and visual art.
The Brooklyn Academy of Music has announced its Fall 2025 season, unveiling a wide-ranging lineup of dance, theater, music, film, visual art and family programming. The season includes the return of the acclaimed Next Wave Festival, known for its bold, genre-defying performances by both celebrated and emerging artists.
“My goal was to put together a season that focused on women artists. Some, like Martha Graham, are iconic, while others making their BAM debuts also represent a long lineage in what is known as ‘downtown dance’” says BAM Artistic Director, Amy Cassello.
The season opens Oct. 8 with Dambudzo, a dance work by Zimbabwean choreographer nora chipaumire. The Next Wave lineup continues through January with appearances by Natalia Lafourcade in Cancionera, Eiko Otake and Wen Hui’s What Is War, Caroline Guiela Nguyen’s LACRIMA, and Richard Move’s Martha@BAM—The 1963 Interview. A season-long exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of Franklin Furnace, the avant-garde collective known for its boundary-pushing contributions to performance art.
In addition to live performances, BAM will host talks and film screenings spotlighting major cultural figures. Author Arundhati Roy will appear in conversation with scholar Imani Perry in September, followed by a newly restored screening of Peter Brook’s The Mahabharata and a program featuring poet and musician Linton Kwesi Johnson.
“We are proud to present this season of ground-breaking performance,” says BAM's Interim CEO, Tamara McCaw.
Holiday programming includes a rare staging of William Christie and Les Arts Florissants’ Messe de Minuit and Pastorale de Noël, offering a distinctive classical music experience. Family events return with BAMboo! and the Best of BAMkids Film Festival.
The season also features repertory film screenings, new releases and school-time matinees, expanding BAM’s reach to broader audiences and local communities.
Tickets for the Fall 2025 season go on sale to BAM members and patrons May 15, and to the general public May 22. Bloomberg Philanthropies is the season sponsor.
The Fall 2025 season reflects BAM’s ongoing commitment to artistic diversity and innovation. Through a mix of new work and reimagined classics, the institution continues to serve as a cornerstone of Brooklyn’s cultural life.
