Continuing a tradition that has evolved into the largest such gathering in New York City, Brooklyn Academy of Music hosts the annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20, at 10:30am, in the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House (Peter Jay Sharp Building, 30 Lafayette Avenue).

This year's keynote address will be delivered by revolutionary activist Angela Davis, who has been deeply  involved in America's quest for social justice over the last decades, through her activism and scholarship. Her work as an educator—both at the university level and in the larger public  sphere—has always emphasized the importance of advocating for economic, racial, and gender  justice.

Davis will be joined by jazz and soul singer José James and the Christian Cultural Center Choir. The program will also include remarks by BAM President Karen Brooks Hopkins, Medgar Evers College President Dr. Rudolph F. Crew, and master of ceremonies Brooklyn Borough President-elect Eric Adams in an inspiring tribute to Dr. King's enduring legacy.

The event is free! (Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-seated basis starting at 8:00am)
