the soft yellow phased with brown speckles
skin
rusty at its ends, smooth along the surface
peel away the velvet yellow layer
if you are skillful,
no strings are left behind

a perfect slate

but if you’re clumsy like me
the stringy yellow strands
clings onto life

core
a pale cream of white
glimmers behind the afternoon sun
next to the tossed away banana peels

phloem bundles pray for survival

inside that metal bin
surfing among a treasure island forgotten

bananas
i chew it away, the ghost in my stomach

yellow skin, tossed away
