The Little Caribbean tour, organized by the cultural community organization Caribbeing, will return for its second season on Saturday, May 12. The tour will take visitors on approximately ten stops, allowing participants to sample an array of traditional Caribbean foods including savory patties, sweet rolls, fish cakes, doubles, rum and fresh Caribbean fruits. Guests will also be able to enjoy a live musical performance by a local steelpan ensemble.

“Our Little Caribbean tours offer a unique opportunity to experience firsthand an overlooked neighborhood in NYC,” said Shelley Worrell, founder of Caribbeing. “New York City is home to one of the largest most diverse immigrant communities in the world. Our tours celebrate all that is great about Caribbean culture while providing both locals and tourists alike with a fantastic opportunity to engage with a vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood and commercial corridors.”

The tour aims to bring continued exposure to the newly created “Little Caribbean” neighborhood which was established last September. The official designation “Little Caribbean” celebrates and promotes the food, culture and small businesses in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Flatbush, East Flatbush and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Since then, the Little Caribbean commercial corridor has become home to numerous events throughout the year, including walking tours, food crawls, art walks, studio visits and more.

Following the season opener on May 12, Little Caribbean tours will be held monthly through December. The three-hour-long tour will start in the lobby of the historic Kings Theatre at 2:00pm. To register for the tour, go here.
