Give your Brooklyn sweetheart the borough’s best for Valentine’s Day and follow the trail of chocolatey goodness as you discover Explore Brooklyn’s newly-released Chocolate Tasting Trail Map. The map, a first-of-its-kind guide to the borough’s best chocolatiers, highlights 12 chocolate producers in neighborhoods all over Brooklyn.

“Since the 1920s, Brooklyn has been home to great chocolatiers, and we’re proud to recognize them for the first time in the Explore Brooklyn Chocolate Trail Map,” said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Andrew Hoan. “And there’s no better time to draw attention to them than Valentine’s Day. We hope that the trail map will encourage more people, both in and out of the borough, to explore all that this thriving industry has to offer.”

Brooklyn has a long history of chocolate-making that began in the early 20th century, and New York City has been a major trading point for cocoa since the early 1700s.

The Chocolate Tasting Trail Map follows Explore Brooklyn’s previously-released trail maps to the borough’s beer, wine and spirits tasting venues. The map features 12 chocolatiers, caters to all tastes and includes addresses, websites, hours and the closest subway stations to each location. The stops on the trail map are:

Many of the stops in the guide are also available through A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours, a Brooklyn-based company that leads NYC’s only Chocolate Tour by bus in the borough and gives a peek at factories, neighborhoods and even business plans.

“As a lifelong Brooklynite and chocoholic, it’s been a dream come true launching our Chocolate Tour of Brooklyn just over a year ago,” said A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours Founder and CEO, Tony Muia. “I’ve come to personally know the chocolate makers we include on the tour, and being able to introduce folks from around the country and around the world to their artisanal and traditional chocolate has been amazing. So is hearing them say our tour’s slogan, which is ‘Hershey’s? FUHGETTABOUDIT!’”
