Whole Foods announced yesterday that it will open its first East Coast 365 store, the upscale grocery chain’s lower-priced spinoff, in Fort Greene on January 31, 2018. The 40,000 square foot location at 292 Ashland Place will be the seventh Whole Foods Market 365 in the country.

“We are thrilled to open the very first East Coast Whole Foods Market 365 in the heart of Fort Greene,” said Jeff Turnas, president of Whole Foods Market 365. “Whole Foods Market 365 will provide a fantastic combination of convenience, quality and value to families, students and commuters alike.”

The 365 initiative, named after the ‘365 Everyday’ value line of Whole Foods’s house brands, launched in 2015; it has since grown to six stores around the country. The new location is expected to feature an array of organic products, sustainable seafood, freshly prepared grab-and-go items and a variety of products tailored for consumers with special diets. In its announcement, the grocery chain promised that all products will be free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats, stating that, “all products sold in the store will meet Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards.”

Aside from budget-friendly Whole Foods products, the Fort Greene store will include a coffee bar and artisanal bakery by Orwashers, a plant-based burger joint by Next Level Burger and an organic juice bar by Juice Press as part of the Friends of 365 program through which the company partners with outside chefs, food and lifestyle brands.
