Within minutes of the decision by a grand jury not to indict NYPD Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the chokehold death of Staten Island father Eric Garner, The Brooklyn Reader hit the streets of Central Brooklyn to ask residents their opinion.

Many had not yet heard the news and declined to comment until they could hear the full story. Several others had heard and were too emotional to speak on camera.

    If Eric Garner was employed with a fair salary, he’d would not have had a need to sell cigarettes on the corner. No one inspires to sell cigarettes (singly) on the corner to make a living.
