It’s the weekend before Halloween, which in New York City, means it’s actually Halloween! Although the super witchy celebration has turned into a weeklong bacchanal, it’s still mucho to do outside of your basic ghoulishness… ’cause Halloween has turned pretty basic!

CHARITY ART RAFFLE to benefit XMENTAL Inc. Each artist in the show has graciously donated amazing pieces of artwork to help benefit this great Nonprofit organization!

www.xmental.org – A coalition of community organizers, artists, and teachers committed to mentoring and educating urban youth. An organization devoted to creating a safe space for our youth to practice creative self-expression and develop positive mindsets, self confidence, and self awareness. Using the elements of hip hop (graffiti, break dancing, djaying, mc’ing) they create opportunities for at-risk youth to showcase their work and engage with their communities in a positive manner.

I AM HERE:Girls Reclaiming Safe Spaces

Saturday 6pm-8pm Opening

I AM HERE: Girls Reclaiming Safe Spaces is an exhibition of photographs and words curated by renown photographer Delphine Fawundu and writer Ibi Zoboi. The exhibition will take place at the Skylight Gallery at Restoration Plaza and feature photographs by Delphine Fawundu whose images portray girls of color around the world within their own unique safe spaces. Quotes from successful women of color will reflect on memories of a time when they were truly safe in their own skins, homes, and neighborhoods.
