Queen to pawn one - Chess Tourney Tomorrow

Chess Festival slated for Dr. Ronald McNair Park

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve ever touched a pawn in your life or you’re a Grandmaster, tomorrow’s chess festival has something for everyone with even a passing interest in the game.

There’s learn-to-play classes for beginners, clinics for intermediate players, checkmate lessons for the experts, a pick-up chess area and play against simulated chess masters.

What:  Chess Festival

Where:  Dr. Ronald McNair Park where Eastern Parkway, Washington Avenue and Classson Avenue meet

When:  Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 am-4 pm.

Who:  All chess loving people

Cost:  Free and open to the public
