BKHIPHOPFRONTNEWEstablished in 2005, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF) is New York City’s largest Hip-Hop cultural event that showcases the positive aspects of Hip-Hop culture by highlighting Hip-Hop’s legacy as an agent of artistic progression, community building and social change.

In addition to musical performances, the Festival offers a number of activities for its audience, including: panel discussions, exhibitions, parties, an award show and a family-friendly block party. The Festival is more than a concert or outdoor fair. It is a family reunion for lovers of this great culture.

In the last ten years, the Festival has achieved a number of memorable milestones with an impressive roster of Hip-Hop acts that include Grammy winner Lupe Fiasco, the front man of Jimmy Kimmel’s late night band Black Thought of The Roots and VH1 Hip-Hop Honoree Big Daddy Kane.Brooklyn+HipHop+Festival+THELOGO-500x400

In 2011, BHF broke attendance records with over 20,000 fans attending Performance Day under the Brooklyn Bridge for “Q-Tip & Friends.” Not only would the crowd under the bridge rock to performances by Hip-Hop emcees like Kendrick Lamar, Homeboy Sandman and M.O.P. for the headlining event Q-Tip surprised fans with collaborative performances with Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Black Thought of The Roots, Monie Love and more

The 2014 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival returns Wednesday, July 9th- Saturday, July 12, with renewed vigor and commitment to showcasing the legends of hip hop culture alongside the new generation.

This Final Day headliners includeRaekwon the Chef of Wu-Tang Clan, Jay Electronica, CJ Fly of Pro Era and Cyhi the Prince.




Corey Woods (born January 12, 1970), better known by the stage name Raekwon, is an American rapper and a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He released his solo debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… in 1995, and has since recorded numerous solo albums, as well as continuing to work with Wu-Tang and providing an extensive number of guest contributions to other hip hop artist’s works. He is the founder of his own label ICEH20 Records. Raekwon is often cited as one of the pioneers of the Mafioso rap sub-genre. In 2007, the editors of About.complaced him on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007). The Miami New Times described Raekwon’s music as being “street epics” that are “straightforward yet linguistically rich universes not unlike a gangsta Iliad.”

Jay Electronica


Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah (born September 19, 1976), better known by his stage name Jay Electronica, is an American hip hoprecording artist and record producer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently based in LondonUnited Kingdom.

Electronica first gained significant attention after the release of the musical composition Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), which was made available on a MySpace page in 2007 and has been called a “timeless classic” by Vice Magazine. It is fifteen continuous minutes of music, without drums, built from Jon Brion‘s soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In late 2009 he released two singles, both produced by Just Blaze, “Exhibit A” and “Exhibit C“, the latter of which won a Sucker Free Summit Award for Instant Classic. In November 2010, it was announced Jay Electronica had signed to hip hop mogul Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation record label.

CJ Fly is a 21 year old Brooklyn MC, and member of the Pro Era collective with Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, A La $ole, Dyemond Lewis, Rawle Ali, Dessy Hinds, Nyck Caution, Dirty Sanchez, ROKAmouth Singh, Jakk The Rhymer, Jab, producers Chuck Strangers, Powers Pleasant and designer SüR Niles. He has released one solo project, the mixtape: The Way Eye See It, and collaborates frequently with Joey Bada$$ and other Pro Era members.

“Cydel Young (born September 15, 1984), better known by his stage name CyHi the Prynce, is an American hip hop recording artist from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He is currently signed to Akon‘s Konvict Muzik, Bu Thiam’s BuVision, Kanye West‘s GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. Young has appeared on West’s highly acclaimed album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) and has released six mixtapes, with the latest being Black Hystori Project (2014), a conscious hip hop concept album about the history of black people in America, executive produced by Kanye West.”
