Police in the 88th Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, on Saturday arrested Hernan Zapata, 51, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old former student in an office at a middle school where he worked, reported the Daily News.

The victim, a former student at the middle school, was in the building visiting with another person when the incident occurred, according to police.

Zapata’s 21-year-old daughter, Michelle Zapata, was in shock about the news. She said, through tears, there was no way her father could commit such an act, especially since he goes straight home after working and when he’s not working, he is with the family.

“This is the craziest thing that has happened to us,” she said. “He’s not capable of something like this.”

Zapata was charged with rape, sex abuse, sexual misconduct, unlawful imprisonment, and assault.
