On Saturday, February 1, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation welcomes former New York City Mayor David Dinkins for a book signing of his memoirs, A Mayor’s Life: Governing New York’s Gorgeous Mosaic.
The book chronicles Dinkins’s journey in life and through local New York City politics as an assemblyman, city clerk, Manhattan borough president and as the 106th, first and only, African-American mayor of New York City.
The book signing will take place at Restoration’s Skylight Art Gallery, 1368 Fulton Street, 3rd Floor, at 2:00pm.
The event will include a conversation between between Mayor Dinkins and his former Chief of Staff John Flateau, followed by a moderated question and answer session, along with a book signing.
“The invitation to be with all of you here humbles me in so many ways,” said Dinkins. “For one, there is no better Brooklyn venue for such an event than the historic Bed Stuy Restoration which has been at the heart of community development for nearly 50 years. I’m also pleased to see so many of the individuals and organizations that I’ve known, respected and worked with over the years who are supporting the event.”
