Bushwick Building Owner Cited For Violations Prior to Supermarket, Apartment Bldg Fire

55 were displaced after the fire.

The owner of a Bushwick building had been cited for performing illegal work prior to a massive fire that destroyed a supermarket and surrounding apartments. The Department of Buildings said Core Holdings LLC, the owner of 1385 Bushwick Ave., performed illegal plumbing work without permits. According to the summons, it “installed propane hookups with piping leading into commercial store” without work permits. They've been ordered to obtain the proper permits and appear at a hearing on July 10. It wasn’t immediately clear if the work played a role in Wednesday's fire.
