ABOUT CAMBA is one of Brooklyn’s largest and most trusted community-based organizations and is unique among peer agencies in scale, quality, and responsiveness. Today, CAMBA provides services to 45,000 individuals and families annually through an integrated set of six program areas: Economic Development, Education and Youth Development, Family Support, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. CAMBA’s Family Support programs are designed to leverage each family’s strengths to develop solutions to real problems that create barriers to their self-sufficiency. Families struggle to pay rent and other bills, maintain employment, raise children and cope with often severe emotional and mental health problems. Our services to pregnant and newly parenting families in central Brooklyn have consistently outperformed state-wide standards. Within our Family Support program area, CAMBA provides home visiting to pregnant women and new mothers with children ages 0-3 years who face multiple barriers to raising children in a safe and healthy environment, including limited access to quality health care, jobs, education, and social support needed to raise a family. Our current suite of home visiting programs collectively reach 500 families each year and focuses on prevention of abuse and neglect, early identification of developmental delays and connections to primary health care and others critical resources to support children’s development.
